How does it work?
Laser tattoo removal is a treatment that involves using a laser which emits ultra-short pulses of light energy, which pass through the skin and is rapidly absorbed by the targeted tattoo ink. This causes the tattoo ink particles to fragment into smaller pieces. Once the laser has broken up the ink particles, the fade of the tattoo can start. This is because the body’s healing response disposes of the fragmented tattoo ink via the body’s immune system, through skin cell migration, and the body’s natural waste system. It is important to understand that fading of the tattoo can take multiple sessions and is not only determined by the way in which the body disposes of the ink, which can vary between individuals and skin tone. It is also determined by various tattoo characteristics; such as the ink type and quality that was used, the skill, depth and layers of tattoo placement by the tattoo artist, the tattoo age/size/location.
With this in mind the speed at which the laser emits a pulse is of little (nanosecond vs picosecond). The key factors are:
the depth of the laser setting for effective tattoo removal are set accordingly
the person’s immune system is up to the challenge
that a minimum of 4-6 weeks is allowed between treatments to support healing and the immune system in removal of the tattoo’s fragmented ink.
What about scarring?
You have to remember that you already have a scar tissue and skin texture changes where your tattoo is. When your tattoo was created needles penetrated your skin anywhere from up to 50 to 10,000 times forming a dermal scar in the creation of your tattoo. This scarring may appear once the ink is removed from your skin.
Scarring from tattoo removal may occur if scabbing or infection occurs after a tattoo removal treatment. So it is important not to pick scabs and to keep the site dry and clean.
Because at Skin Revolution Australia your tattoo removal will be done by and experienced Registered Nurse, a variety of techniques can be used upon a skin assessment to maintain optimal skin health and integrity.
What is the minimum amount of time between treatments?

Does it hurt?
People have likened the experience to getting multiple fast flicks from a rubber band or hot fat splatter.
It is also important to remember that people’s pain thresholds vary.
Pain management for during and after the treatment will be discussed upon initial consultation and each treatment.
