Super Skin Rejuvenation
How Does It Work?
SSR stands for Super Skin Rejuvenation. Super Skin Rejuvenation is the latest laser technology offering customers a gentle and effective treatment with less chance of trauma to the skin. SSR uses a broad spectrum of light which is transmitted through a smooth, transparent hand piece that is gently placed over the skin. It targets the deeper dermal layers delivering heat which gives a gradual thermal rise. The treatment head glides over the skin in one slow motion so it is less likely to miss areas and the areas can be treated faster. Cut off filters in the hand piece change the wavelength range of the laser light allowing it to deliver optimal levels to safely treat different skin concerns and types. This means no down time, so you can return to normal daily activities. This significantly lessens the chance of burning or pain in comparison to other methods.
SSR can reduce the appearance of brown spots, broken capillaries and sun damage, repairs skin defects and treats facial wrinkles, as their molecules (chromophores) are receptive to light. SSR uses a low energy, short pulse broadband light that creates a heat (photothermolysis), which damages targeted cells. Imperfections can be gently heated and eliminated by the body’s natural process. The SSR reaction stimulates the production of more collagen and elastin at a faster rate promoting cell repair and renewal at the deeper layer, replacing the skin by a newer younger looking skin.
This is a pain free treatment and does not require any pain medications or numbing creams. Some clients have compared SSR to a hot stone massage. The results can be seen even after one or two treatments. Treatment times take about 30 minutes and are usually every three weeks. Clients significantly benefit from 4 – 6 treatments for an effective non-invasive treatment to address common cosmetic concerns. After 4 treatments at 3 week intervals the dermal layer has been shown to thicken and plump by up to 2mm.
How Is This Different To Traditional IPL or Laser?
In comparison to traditional laser and IPL methods, SSR provides faster, safer, targeted and pain free skin treatment for clients with no downtime. There are very minimal side effects or risks using the SSR machine due to the relatively low-energy, short-pulse broadband light that is equally distributed to ensure the targeted area is entirely treated. Older IPL or Laser machines often caused bruising or skin striping which could then lead to white patches or pigmentation problems. Some laser treatments are ablative and strip or damage the upper and lower layers of your skin and requires downtime. Other laser techniques use massive amounts of heat and require multiple generalized laser shots to the skin to address the skin concern and has been reported as being quite painful. As a result, increasing discomfort and side effects unlike SSR.
Who Is Suitable For SSR?
This approach means the SSR system is safe and effective for both men and women with dark, blonde and red hair types, and for people with fair to darker skin types.
People who experience photo-sensitive epilepsy are not suitable for SSR treatment.
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, undertaking fertility treatments to conceive, on medication that causes photosensitivity or taking growth hormones you will have to wait 6 months from the time you have given birth, stopped breastfeeding, finished taking medications/therapies or provide a medical certificate with specific clearance to proceed with SSR from the relevant specializing medical consultant or general practitioner.
You must directly notify Skin Revolution Australia of any changes in your health status prior to receiving any treatment.
What Are the Risks or Side Effects?
It is normal if your skin feels warm, similar to a mild sunburn, and for the treated area to remain pink for 2-3 hours. In some people this subsides in a matter of hours or could last for a few days and present like a sunburn.
A light crusting or stubble may be experienced, which vanishes after 2-3 weeks.
Blistering is a very small risk that may occur and may take several days to heal.
Alteration in skin pigment is a very rare risk that may occur. In the rare event that this does occur it disappears after 4-6 months.
There is no ‘downtime’ or recovery time required.
After SSR treatment your skin is more susceptible to sunburn and sun damage, which can effect how you respond to the treatment, damage your skin, alter the skins pigment and increase likelihood of blistering.
There are possible unknown side effects that may arise.
To minimize risks of side effects you must provide accurate information and comply with the pre and post treatment instructions.
